There's nothing better than a slice of warm apple pie on a cool autumn day. That rich apple taste, combined with the sweet aroma of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, brings out all the smells and flavors we love about Fall! For me, it just isn't Autumn without that first slice!
Now, imagine, if you will, combining the rich aroma and fall flavor we love in apple pie with the taste and texture we've grown to love in cake bread. Can you picture the possibilities? I mean, who could resist a warm slice of apple pie bread, am I right?
We took our versatile and oh so delicious Freeze Dried Apples, threw in our amazing Alta Artisan Flour, a little bit of cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg, and created a loaf of bread that screams everything we love about autumn! Say hello to your new fall favorite, Apple Pie Bread!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Milk
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
2 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Himalayan Salt
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Apples
Crumb Topping:
2 Tbsp Butter, melted
1/2 cup Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla, and beat together with an electric hand mixer.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Combine flour mixture with wet ingredients and beat together until a soft batter forms. Add re-hydrated apples (re-hydrate by soaking in water until soft, then draining excess liquid) and gently fold in.
Pour dough into a greased 9 x 5 bread pan.
In a small bowl, make crumb topping by combining melted butter, flour, and brown sugar, and mixing together with a fork until topping is crumbly.
Sprinkle over the top of your bread batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. Remove and let cool in pan for 15-20 minutes before removing, slicing, and serving.
Rich with flavor and packed with aroma, this bread is exactly what you need to get you in the festive fall mood. The apple bake to perfection in each slice, while the cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar give you a sweetness that you simply can't find anywhere else. The crumb topping pulls the whole thing together and leaves you craving another slice. Serve this up warm with some butter on top for the perfect dessert or snack.
It isn't autumn without a slice of apple pie. Or should I say, a slice of Apple Pie Bread!
