Gingerbread Donuts

Is there anything better than a fresh baked donut on a cool winter morning? Combined with a warm mug of cocoa, this delicious meal is a favored one of many during the chilly, snow-packed months.

Now imagine, if you will, a warm, tasty, glazed-to-perfection donut, with one little Holiday surprise. What's the surprise you ask? The whole thing is baked with a Gingerbread flavor. That's right, all the things you love about fresh baked donuts, combined with all the tastes and flavors you enjoy in Gingerbread. Who knew donuts could be oh so festive! Grab some tinsel and holly, it's time to bake up some Gingerbread Donuts!

Ingredients:

1 cup Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour

3/4 tsp Baking Powder

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

1 tsp Cinnamon

1/2 tsp Ginger

1/4 tsp Allspice

1/4 tsp Cloves

1/4 tsp Himalayan Salt

1/4 cup Brown Sugar

1 Egg

1/4 cup Applesauce

1/4 cup Molasses

1 Tbsp Milk

2 Tbsp Butter, melted

Glaze:

2 Tbsp Butter, melted

1/4 cup Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp Milk

1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, salt, and brown sugar, and whisk together.

Next, add egg, applesauce, molasses, milk, and melted butter, and mix together until a thick batter forms.

Place dough in a plastic bag and pipe into your greased Norpro Donut Pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. 

Remove and turn out on to a wire rack to cool.

While cooling, prepare your glaze by beating butter, brown sugar, milk, and powdered sugar together with an electric hand mixer.

Dip tops of donuts in glaze, then let solidify before serving.
