Ingredients:
3 cups Hot Water
1/4 cup Butter, melted
1/3 cup Sugar
1 Tbsp Himalayan Salt
8-9 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Bread Flour
3 Tbsp SAF Yeast
Coconut Glaze:
28 oz Coconut Milk
1 1/2 cups Sugar
Yields: 24-30 rolls
Directions:
First, make your dough.
In your Bosch Universal Mixer or WonderMix Mixer, combine the following ingredients in this order: water, butter, sugar, salt, 4 cups flour, and yeast. Turn mixer on and, while ingredients are mixing, add remaining flour 1 cup at a time until dough begins to pull away from the sides. Knead in machine for 4-5 minutes.
Remove dough and place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30-40 minutes, or until double in size.
Once risen, punch down dough, remove from bowl, and begin to separate into rolls, about the size of tennis balls. Place rolls on your USA Pan Baking Sheet, lined with parchment paper. Let rise while oven preheats.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, whisk together coconut milk and sugar until completely combined.
Cover the rolls generously with the topping.
Place in 400 degree oven, knock temperature down to 350 degrees, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Remove and let cool before serving.
Sweet, savory, and with a coconut flavored taste you won't find anywhere else, these rolls are perfect for any gathering or party. The coconut mixture soaks into the rolls to give a taste and texture you can't find anywhere else.
Yes, you can't beat homemade rolls, especially when they're Samoan Coconut Rolls.
